{"id":1097,"date":"2024-06-25T20:26:56","date_gmt":"2024-06-25T20:26:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chathammensclub.org\/?p=1097"},"modified":"2024-09-13T12:40:21","modified_gmt":"2024-09-13T12:40:21","slug":"cmc-member-independence-day-parade-grand-marshall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chathammensclub.org\/?p=1097","title":{"rendered":"CMC Member &#8211; Independence Day Parade Grand Marshall"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Karl Fehrle, a 102 year-old member of the Chatham Mens Club, was named the Grand Marshal of the 2024 Chatham Independence Day Parade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fehrle, a World War II Veteran, was a unanimous choice of this year\u2019s Parade Committee.&nbsp; Karl has been a long time member of the Chatham Band.&nbsp; Anyone who has ever attended a Friday Night Band Concert has surely heard his solo rendition of \u201cSomewhere Over The Rainbow\u201d on saxophone.&nbsp; Additionally, Karl is a member of several other local bands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2021 the Chatham Mens Club honored Karl during one of its Covid Zoom Meetings just before he turned 100.&nbsp; In addition to several gifts he received a proclamation from then Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker citing his reaching this milestone birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During World War II Karl served gallantly in North Africa and Italy.&nbsp; Several years ago he and one of his son in laws returned to visit the communities where Karl was stationed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chatham Mens Club proudly congratulates Karl as the recipient this most prestigious honor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Karl Fehrle, a 102 year-old member of the Chatham Mens Club, was named the Grand Marshal of the 2024 Chatham Independence Day Parade.
